OdoGoddess Cecy
Odogoddess & Cecy

About Me
aka The Boring Stuff

My name is Judith, better known on-line as OdoGoddess. I live on the USA's pacific coast, near the cool, blue waters along with my soulmate and life's partner, the beautiful Ce. My occupation for years was respiratory therapist, but due to progressively ill health that was eventually diagnosed as *inhale* systemic lupus erythematoses (lupus), I had to change gears.

Other nasty symptoms aside, the main problem  with the lupus is it made me extremely light sensiitive.  As in, I can't be in the direct sun for longer than a few minutes.  Stay in it too long and it will precipitate a lupus/fibro flare-up.  Even too much regular light (fluorescents esp.) can bring it on, though I can tolerate those a bit better now thanks to improved medication. So... yes, I do live in a dim house just like that woman in the X-Files episode "Alpha".

Sunblock and eye shades are my friends, as is Rit Sun Guard, and if needed, hats with wide brims.

I quilt as a hobby and draw a little. I started etching glass recently and hope to do more of that in future. I love crafty things, though not so much as Ce! She's the real crafting talent in our family.

I enjoy reading & writing fanfic, so many of my friends are in fandom. Fandom can be a hobby for some, or, as with me, a way of life. Part of the reason I love fandom is fans tend to be open-minded, progressive and forward-thinking.

In my spare time I moderate a high-volume progressive political list as well as some fandom related lists and I'm also on several lists pertaining to fandom and gay and lesbian, et al (glbt) rights.   My Journal is rife with my opinions on those subjects; no shame, no apologies. I also foster various causes.

For those that care, my Myers-Briggs profile is INTJ.

Why do people call me OdoGoddess?

It started on-line when some friends in a chat kidded me about being the "goddess of all things Odo". As it happened, I was changing ISP's and needed a new screen name. My old one of "OdoLover" was taken, as were variations of it. After the chat, one of my friends called me and asked, "So how is the OdoGoddess?" The name was born. I plugged it in as my screen name and it was available. So here we are. :)  I've been called OdoGoddess since 1997 so I'm afraid the name is here to stay.

Why do I like Odo so much? Basically, it's because I understand him and empathize with him. It doesn't hurt that he's played by an incredibly talented actor with a sexy voice and bedroom blue eyes. ;-) Seriously though, I just  fell for Odo the first time I saw him, and as Deep Space Nine (DS9) developed I began to want him to be happy for a change... something I'm afraid happened to me again in re: the Harry Potter character of Severus Snape... (*rueful*) Anyway, that is when I began writing fanfic about Odo and set up a website devoted to it, Odo's PADD. It  was my way of returning a little of the joy DS9 and the character of Odo has given me.

The most important and precious thing that DS9 brought into my life is my beautiful lifepartner, Cecy (pronounced Say-See), she who I call Ce (Say). It was her own interest in Rene Auberjonois' performance on DS9 that led to an internet search that led to one of my stories which subsequently led her into my life. Ironically, I had met Ce's dad before I ever met her. She became my closest friend and confidant. We didn't plan it that way, but eventually we fell in love.

Since we both believe it's rude not to accept a gift given you by the gods and goddesses, we accepted it with gratitude. :) We were joined in holy union by Rev. Dia Vickery in March of 2002 in front of our family and close friends. It was a day for memories and warmth and camaraderie. It was beautiful.

So basically it's a classic American love story with a science fiction twist!
